Sabre Grappling Makes competition debut at All-Stars London Capital Pro

Sabre Grappling made a memorable debut at the prestigious All Stars Capital Pro competition, with outstanding performances across the team.

Rob Hewitt, competing in the 76kg division, was the first athlete to ever represent Sabre on the mats. Facing a challenging 8-man bracket, Rob rose to the occasion, securing a remarkable second-place finish. A highlight of his run was a spectacular submission victory via straight footlock against a highly respected opponent.

Ollie Millet, in the 88.3kg category, demonstrated remarkable progress, having only trained for four months at Sabre. Competing against seasoned athletes, Ollie showcased impressive skill, notably executing a flawless takedown of a vastly more experienced rival. He too secured second place in his division.

Head Instructor Matt MacGuire faced unique challenges, stepping into two unfamiliar brackets after late withdrawals. Despite competing in a division significantly younger and then one 13kg heavier than his own, Matt displayed resilience and skill, securing second and third places in his respective categories.

Sabre Grappling’s first competition proved to be a successful and inspiring debut, setting the stage for future accomplishments.
